Wong Nai Chung Gap Playground Hares - Toilet Boy and Cute Boar Butt Hashers - Adam, Duty Free, Comes Up the Rear, Constance, Sticky Sex Toy, Globe F*cker, Indyanus, Jamie, Castrato, Shake My Shack, Mac, Mara, Natalya, Freebie, Toilet Boy, Mai Tai, Cute Boar Butt Write-up - Shake My Shack A at Wong Nai Chung Children's Playground. The hares titled this a REVENGE run and it was exactly that from the get go with a cheeky check back only 10m from the initial ON ON in the catch water which left the group in a confused cluster — the hares chuckled quietly to themselves in amusement. Perhaps the most egregious start I’d seen took the pack directly up the 50 degree crumbling concrete embankment, sending loose dirt and gravel back down to A. “What are we in for?” I thought. The peloton set off at a fast pace along the catch water below Violet Hill, anxiously anticipating when the hares would send us up and over the top. The front of the pack is led by a newbie, Mackenzie, and a visitor from Taiwan, Globe F*#ker. At the first check on the catch water, the front of the pack had doubled back after checking the catch water ahead, indicating that they had reached a check back which left only the dry stone creek above. Most of the group stayed put to catch their breath while a few of us went up to check. After several minutes without finding any markings, someone cries “ON ON” along the catch water… seems the front of the pack hadn’t actually found a CB despite calling it, so back down the slopes and off we go again along the flats. A wimp split is spotted that goes slightly downhill and rejoins a few meters later, though the pack is moving so fast along the trail that I’m not sure how many realized it was less of an actual split and more of an inside joke between the hares. “What the heck was that?” said a runner in the middle of the pack. Another 4 or 5 checks are spotted along the catch water, but the pack isn’t fooled after the first debacle and blazes straight ahead through each check, wrapping around Violet Hill as views of Repulse Bay come into view. Now the trail has wrapped around to the south side of Violet and facing the Twins — “surely this check must be uphill” I think, though in classic Clean My Bush mode I decide to take the less likely path and continue straight ahead (just in case). 200m later and no markings, I turn around and carefully listen for calls from the group behind who must have taken the uphill route. Silence. I double back and turn up the path to Violet Hill. The main pack had not yet caught up but I spot 3 lights 200 steps well ahead: Mackenzie, Globe F*&^er and Comes up the Rear. Still silence. No calls from the front throughout this climb, but the well marked trail indicates uphill is clearly true trail. Now begins the hard work of catching up on a 30 min climb. The mist grows thicker near the top, scattering the light from our headlamps to only a meter or two of visibility. I catch up to the newcomers and together we chase the front runner, CUTR, though it’s impossible to know how far ahead he is at this point. I’m not sure we heard a call from the front again. Over the top of Violet, the hard work is done and now only the rocky decent to the reservoir remains. The mist subsides on the north side of the mountain and the only sound in the air is the barking of dogs the distance. Reaching the reservoir and looking for a way to the main road, but the only route appears to be the smallest stairwell in HK, 6 or so steps about 10cm in width. I scatter up them only to later learn they were allegedly covered in vomit (maybe from runners behind?), a mystery that may never be solved. Reaching Tai Tam Reservoir Rd its only a few hundred meters downhill back to A, where I find Toilet Boy giggling uncontrollably as he confesses his thought of prank calling me to tell me my motorbike had been stolen. I can’t help but laugh as we take a well earned rest from the blood pumping climb. I never would have guessed these two hares had Revenge in their blood, but they sure did this time around. I take note not to dare upset them in the future, lest they unleash their Retribution upon us once again. DOWN DOWNs by Indy The hares - Toilet Boy / Cute Boar Butt… cries of too flat / not enough scrambling / rocks / elevation / checks… An adventurous enjoyable trail… TB - enjoyed watching the confusion at the start as hashers hit a CB from A and then scrambled up shiggy sections until found trail up concrete slope 🤣 CBB / TB - had set different trail sections .. after laying checking with each other? Freebie - ‘not enough vomit 🤮’ TB / CBB - why is this trail ‘A Revenge trail?’ Duty Free - ‘a successful revenge’ with a very slippery rocky trail !! Sticky Sex Toy > hares.. why was there puke 🤮 on trail ? Why not clear it?? Was it revenge puke? 😂 Returnees - Constance - and so your second hash is the Revenge Hash! ‘Yes! Had fun.. Not enough vomit’.. but she will come again !! Mai Tai - waiting patiently for Constance to appear… 45 mins late.. Mai Tai / Constance / Natalya - all met up with each other following markings forwards and backwards on trail ‘The 3 Musketeers’! Adam - ‘enjoyed it! Count me in on TB’s next trail’ 👌 Castrato - interesting trail! Got lost checking at the beginning so had to move quickly to play catch up.. Virgin LSW hasher - Globe F*cker… named from visiting 185 UN countries… GF - enjoyed the trail ! Easy checks ? Mackenzie - great trail! 👍 Mac / CBB - both found out about hashing on ‘Google’! Shake My Shack > CBB… Nope! Clean My Bush introduced you?
