July birthdays run Chai Wan to Shek O Hares - Octo, Stinky Hashers - Brittany Bitch, Deep Hole Lover, Short Haul Booty Call, Prefers It Wet, Gobi Lo, Sticky Sex Toy, Octopussy, Indyanus, Back to the Future, Ass Control Tower, Not Hard Enough, Backdoor Porky, Australia Kiss, Spinky McHu, Hand Solo, Hands Off The Rear, Hopeless, Clean My Bush, Freebie, Pipe Rider, Toilet Boy, Ryan, Rooted, Just Trevor, Dong Gobbler, Wai Chee Kok, Cute Boar Butt Write-up - Short Hall Booty Call A birthday hash/bash to celebrate Octo’s big 50 and the prospect of an A to B run many (myself included) managing to get out of work just in time for the 7.10 cut off at A thanks to sprinting from the MTR with Not Hard Enough and Gobi Lo. They at least arrived changed and ready unlike me and despite there not being a toilet in sight, Toilet Boy helped me change (not like that…..) and keep at least some decency. It had been pouring with rain all afternoon with a few glum looks from various offices/homes but the heavens cleared in time for a rather pleasant evening and the hash awaits! One trail was set, wimps and rambos united, as we began the initial urban section out of Chai Wan through a twisting turning section of Cape Collinson Road. A fellow latecomer, myself and Hand Solo did our best to go the wrong way up the single winding road despite excellent hellbank/happy birthday markings Having caught up with the main pack, the group were coming out of the urban section and into Shek O country park with a long steep road climb to get the legs going. That and the contents of Freebies bag being the main points of discussion, a single seemingly harmless hair tie but we all thought it likely anything but that. The path then narrowed into very much single file running - except for Ass Control Tower who was able to push past Not Hard Enough as apparently she’s not fast enough either! After yet more climbing along the narrow Shek O country path, we peaked around Pottinger and started a slightly treacherous stepping stones/puddle hopping/root avoiding descent through the dark. Running with Gobi Lo, we decided this was the perfect time to discuss the merits of vintage champagne and that a bottle of Krug would hit the spot (dare I say an upgrade on soda water……) After passing through Tai Long Wan village, Hands off the Rear and Rooted were amongst the front runners heading down Big Wave Bay Road and thinking that a Shek O finish was likely just round the corner everyone picked up the pace A downhill road finish into Shek O beach with the hares and Toilet Boy waiting with big smiles as myself and Dong Gobbler (who was looking slightly lost despite essentially being at the finish line/B) coming in to crack open a few Tsingtao Excellent trail, food, beers and company followed at the birthday bash before catching the bus back up to Shau Kei Wan MTR. Well done hares and On On to LSW2609! Down-down by Indy and all The hares - Octo / SST… great A - B run.. fab weather with the heavy rain? / too many markings / lovely beach ending… Birthday cake time - this one being an actual home-made Banana cake as Octo’s fave.. saved the skittles for next time.. - Trevor: 2nd LSW run after being in HK for ten days..
