Chai Wan to Big Wave Bay

Why are YoU HaRes @ShortHaulBootyCall @NotHardEnough sO BoRinG?!!! The group gathered at Chai Wan Park, and about thirty of us showed up. Glad to see the pack growing and being fuelled by young blood. As we were checking our way towards Siu Sai Wan, I caught the rarest sight: Gobi Lo standing in front of the check. Honestly, not very GL fashion, but later I found out she was exhausted from her SG trip, so I guess her energy is temporarily on vacation. The arrows were many and huge, so they were easy to spot, but also not the prettiest NGL. Soon after I learnt that the hares had drunk a bottle of wine while setting trail. Maybe they’d put down an arrow for every sip they took—until they realised they were running out of time, which explained why the markings were more sparse towards the end. I was running with Mai Tai, Just Trevor, Britney Bitch, Backdoor Porky, Lost in Space, Octo, Virgin Sky, and a couple of others. Of course, I had to take a GenZ selfie, because I need to get my priorities right! While we were going up Cape Collinson Path, I overheard Britney Bitch saying for the Nth time how he got “recruited” into LSW from his home balcony in Lamma. Poor lad must be tired of explaining his story by now than from the actual trail LOL. Octo was being a true friend too, bringing newbie Sky - who had just moved to Hong Kong - along to suffer on this military training which was warned to be an elevated edition. And up we went to a viewpoint where Deep Hole Lover was telling us stories and news related to the bridge near TKO. Honestly, I was never quite able to properly soak in any information on trail, but oh well. It was already a lot of elevation before the split, so the sneaky Luvs69 took out her phone to examine the trails before deciding to do Rambo. Mai Tai was persuaded by me to do Rambo as well, while Octo and newbie Sky chose the Wimp. Not before long, though, they changed their minds and took on the challenge with us. Great example of the growth mindset. The shiggy descent was fun, and we even spotted frog and fireflies(?). Afterwards we reached a junction where Octo sighed, realising we had only reached there. She mentioned that last week’s run which she had set had apparently passed by this point, and her reaction was basically, oh no—we still have a long way to go. Thankfully, the trail was flat so we ran until the end and then sprinted down to Tai Long Wan to join the birthday celebration. PS if anyone was wondering how the hares came together to set trail, it all happened during Whip the Whistle’s secret farewell party. Suspiciously chaotic, with alcohol, as one would expect. Returnees And then the place emptied out in a heart beat as most everyone scrambled to catch the 10pm bus out of Big Wave Bay leaving only Indy, CUTR, Deep Hole Lover, Yours Truly and a big chunk of left over chocolate cake.
